After our pioneering work with him on 'GoldenEye', top stunt coordinator
Wayne Michaels naturally looked to the expertise of the OSF to engineer
this potentially very dangerous stunt - and at just a weeks notice
- after the bungee team initially approached lost the confidence
of the BBC.
The scene called for several bungee jumps from a crane reaching
out over the sea from the top of a 300 foot cliff in Cornwall -
450 foot in total - with the last jump being a dummy drop into the
water.
Challenges included tides, weather, the precarious cliff top siting
of the crane, and especially wind (the location was next to a wind
farm!).
However, we successfully provided the director, Jonathan Gershfield,
with better action shots than he had dared expect - all in our customary
'production budget friendly' single takes - and in one day!
